Albert Edward Trinder lived and worked locally before moving to Uckfield, Middlesex to presumably retire?
I was told in 2001 by one of my father's cousins that Albert Edward Trinder was Head Gardener at Pusey House near Oxford.
So I decided to try and find out for myself if this were true.
I wrote a letter to the present owner who unknown to me had only lived ther for a few years, luckily he knew the whereabouts of the previous owner and gave me a location and name to persue.
Today (17 june 2003) I have received a hand written letter from Sir Simon Hornby which reads as follows
Dear Mr Trinder
Albert Edward Trinder was head gardener at Pusey House for my parents from 1935 until about 1943 when he retired.
His son Charlie was the Estate carpenter/maintainance man for his working life. I cannot remember when he retired.
He was a very good woodworker and he was also a bachelor.
The other sons of Albert Trinder, George and Gilbert, worked for a short time in the garden at Pusey,and if I remember they left to join the army at the begining of the war in 1939.
