Arthur Rodway Trinder, born on 27 July 1907, was the youngest child of Thomas Henry Trinder. He and his wife were the last Trinder's to live in Shilton, both living there until they died. Arthur lived to the age of 81, and died on the 22 November 1988.
His wife Elsie, lived to be 90, she died on the 4 July 1998. Both are buried in Shilton church
They lived in the tiny little cottage called "Chestnuts" which is opposite the "Rose and Crown" pub in Shilton.
His unusual middle name, "Rodway" was taken from his mother's maiden name. This, I believe was quite a common thing to do in those days.

Arthur, Elsie and daughters |

| Arthur by trade was a dry stone waller and took his skills to extreme limits as you can see here by the way he has stacked his firewood. |
 |
Arthur and Elsie had two children, both girls and their names were Sarah and Elizabeth. Sarah, better known as Sadie has been the main source of information for my research into the Trinder's of Shilton.
Sadie and Arthur are pictured below in what looks like a showbiz moment!
| To the right is a picture of Sadie and Arthur in 1958 on the day of her wedding to Ray (Cherry) Rose, taken in the chuch yard at Shilton. |
