This is my section of the Trinder's of Shilton family tree, George William Trinder was my Grandfather. My only memory of him is visiting his house as a young child and being treated to a sweet from his personal sweet tin which took pride of place on the mantle shelf. I was allowed to sit on his knee and select which sweet took my fancy. The tin was filled with boiled sweets so it was a matter of selecting which colour I fancied.
I don't know as much about him as perhaps I ought to as he died when I was about 5 years old, and I have had to make do with other peoples recolections of him as a person.
George William Trinder was born on the 8 August 1883 in Shilton. He married Rose Newman at St Mathews church, Winnipeg, Canada on the 17 July 1915.

He died 23 Sep 1968 and is burried in Toddenham church, Gloucestershire along with Rose. Toddenham being Rose's place of birth.
They had four sons
Phillip David Christopher Trinder, born 26 May 1917
Leslie Victor Newman Trinder, born 4 Apr 1920
Joseph Roy Trinder, born 28 Dec 1922
Anthony Cecil Trinder, born 21 Apr 1925
The youngest Anthony (Tony) being my father.
Again photographs are of short supply and there is only one that i have in my possession which shows them all together. This is of course without Leslie who was killed in action during the second world war. |
