Westwell is a small village on the border of Gloucestershire, 2 miles from Burford and 5 from Alvescot. Over the years there have been many accounts of diferent Trinder families living in the village.
The most prominent being that of Charles Trinder, who built the manor house in Westwell and owned most of the nearby Holwell.
There is good documentation of this family in a book called "The History Of Westwell" by A.S.T Fisher, in which there is an entire chapter about this branch of Trinder's, and their recorded antics of that time. I have transcribed some of the text, which can be read on this site on the page titled "The History Of Westwell".
As far as know, Charles was the only Trinder to have been granted a coat of arms, this too can been seen on the page mentioned above.
He also gives reference to other Trinder's living in the village at the same time but bearing no relation to this branch, in particular a certain "widow Trinder" who had several run ins with the local authorities.
The 1841 census shows only one dwelling which had Trinder's living in it, and that particular family continued to live in the village to at least 1901. Until further census's are available I will not be able to determine how long they continued to live, unless I can find time to check the Parish registers which should yield more information.
